Hanna, Addison and I were teaching at a  school I hadn’t been to before, but I was excited for the day of teaching that lay before me! Well, we taught the first two classes, and let’s just say, they didn’t go very well.  We had a hard time keeping the kids’ attention, and explaining things to them, and smoothly talking throughout the lesson, etc.  I was discouraged after those two classes, and was thinking, “Man, those didn’t go well at all…BUT, I want to learn from my mistakes.  And just because those classes failed, doesn’t mean that this last class has to.”   We had a two hour break from teaching, so, the three of us brain-stormed about what we could do to make it go better.  Throughout that time, I would sporadically pray silent prayers to God, like, “God, please give us wisdom to know what to say!  And make this class go well! Help us to be able to communicate Your truth to them without even having to mention Your name.”

God is so good!  We three were able to take out the things that didn’t work so well, discuss how we could work better as a team, and emphasize the most important things in our lesson.  Did I already mention that God is good?!  Because He is!  That last class was awesome!!  The kids were paying attention, we were able to smoothly communicate truth to them, they stayed in their seats (for the most part), and we gave them a challenge that made sense and applied to their lives.  I was so pumped about what God did through us!  Then it got better – we walked out of the classroom, and Addison said, “That class is normally the toughest class in the whole school!”  I was shocked.  He continued, “They’re normally not paying attention and running around all over the classroom…That was a miracle!”  I didn’t really believe him, but after talking to a few other interns, I found out that yes, that class has the reputation for being the toughest class in school.  And that makes this story even more awesome!  God showed His love and goodness to us by: helping us learn from our mistakes, giving us wisdom in how to better our teaching, and doing a miracle right in front of our eyes!
